The Sharks clinched and eighth straight division title despite improvement from divisional foes Vancouver and Oakland. This season has been a trying one for the Los Angeles team. They have had a myriad of injuries to deal with. SP Howard Gilbert suffered a season ending injury to his throwing elbow, the required surgery after just seven starts. Off season acquisition CF Christian Burns had two stints on the 15-day DL with rib and leg injuries. All Star SP Harold Pacquette also had a trip to the DL with a groin injury. Management was relying on the continued development of young RP Andres Bautista, who still pitched well, but seemed to take a step backward this season. Despite all of the injuries, and a SPL worst 16 game losing streak, the resilient Sharks made it into the postseason once again and will be the NL's #4 seed.
