World Series Preview

#4 Scottsdale Camels (83-79)

vs.

#2 Iowa City Badgers (94-68)

Keys to the Series:
Not to overlook the NL Champs, but the story of the World Series is really the Scottsdale Camels. Only two Pennant winners have had comparable runs to the WS. In Season 15, the Chicago Gray Stockings defeated both of the NL's #1 and #2 seeds on the way to the Pennant. In Season 10, the Memphis Mad Hatters defeated both of the NL's #1 and #2 seeds on the way to their Pennant. This season's Scottsdale squad defeated both of the AL's #1 and #2 seeds to become the team with the fewest win ever to appear in a SP World Series. Unfortunately for Scottsdale, history is not in their favor as both Memphis and Chicago were swept in the World Series, both times by Baltimore. On paper, once again, the Camels are the underdogs. Will  the team built around aging veterans have one more magical series in them? Or will the clock strike midnight on their Cinderella run? If they can defeat the Badgers, it will no doubt be the best underdog finish in SP history. The fewest regular season wins a World Series Champion has ever had previously is the Season 21 Chicago Gray Stocking, who were 93-69. Either way, one of these two franchises will win their 1st ever World Series title. The story line for the NL Champs revolves around the legacy of Hipolito Matos. The only thing lacking from Matos' HoF resume is that elusive World Series ring. He has always seemed to be thought of as the 2nd best pitcher in his league... behind the incredible Pepe Sosa. With a World Series title to his name, he will have done something that Sosa has, so far, been unable to accomplish. This season he is pitching like he won't  be denied either. These playoffs he is 3-0 with a 1.64 ERA. Having the home field advantage will help as well.

SPN Prediction: Iowa City wins in five.
