1 (11)- Philadelphia Stomp (55-28)- Hottest team in the AL. Best pitching staff. The Stomp are poised for another deep playoff run.
2 (6)- Little Rock Mockinbirds (52-31)- Top 5 pitching staff and defense. 2nd in the NL in runs scored. Best overall team in the NL. They have a legit chance to repeat.
3 (7)- Milwaukee Boys of Summer (51-32)- After a hot start with a young team, the front office went all in and made a number of key trades to significantly upgrade the pitching rotation. Its paid off. The Boys pitching staff has risen from being ranked at the bottom of the NL in pitching, to 5th in team ERA. The Boys are legit.
4 (1)- New Orleans Jazz (51-32)- The Jazz are steady as she goes, and are on pace to have 6 All Stars, more than any other AL team.
5 (3)- Charlotte Legends (50-33)- A 2nd place team with a 1st place record. Such is life in the brutal AL South this season. The Legends will be playing more than 162 games this season, its a question of a division winner or a Wild Card team.
6 (10)- St. Louis Redbirds (49-34)- The Birds went into a bit of a mid-season funk, but are currently the hottest team in the league, riding a W7. Phil Leonard (13-4, 2.11 ERA) could be on his way to Cy Young #4.
7 (2)- Kansas City T-Bones (49-34)- Junior Chang (.365 AVG, 21 HR, 84 RBI) is a beast or course. But AJ Cone (.256 AVG, 10 HR, 68 RBI, 48 SB) is having an All Star season as 'Robin' to Chang's 'Batman'.
8 (-)- Norfolk Whiskey Jacks (49-34)- The Jacks really stumbled out of the gates, starting 13-18. Since then, they've been red hot, going 36-16. Surprisingly, its looking like there won't be any Jacks repping their team in the All Star game however.
9 (5)- Monterrey Gringos (49-34)- Still slugging their way to an excellent season, leading the AL in nearly every hitting category. Currently on pace to have 5 players in Gringos Gear at the All Star game, and not surprisingly, non of them are pitchers.
10 (9)- Houston Buushwackerz (48-35)- Odalis Owen (11-1, 2.36 ERA) has got to be the surprise Cy Young favorite, pitching half his games in hitter friendly Minute Maid Park. He will make his 4th consecutive All Star appearance this season.
11 (4)- Washington Generals (47-36)- Very streaky this season. Started off hot. Had an L7. Since then is 12-6, and riding a W5. Maybe the're just bored in the weak AL East?
12 (15)- Richmond Rebellion (47-36)- The Rebellion are scoring their way to a good record, and could ride that offensive momentum into a Wild Card spot. The team is 4th in the NL in runs scored, but has a very average team ERA of 4.19. Julio Borbon (.325 AVG, 10 HR, 46 RBI, 14 SB) is having the best season of his career, while playing very good defense at 3B. He might be the only member or the Rebellion playing in the All Star Game.
13 (8)- Iowa City Badgers (46-37)- The Badgers find themselves in the unfamiliar spot of 2nd place. The resurgent Boys of Summer means its very likely their run of 7 straight division titles may come to and end. The Badgers still have a shot, and of course, are right in the thick of the Wild Card.
14 (13)- Atlanta Soda Poppers (45-38)- Right where you'd expect them to be, the Poppers aren't really expected to be competing for the division in the crowded NL South, but find themselves in the mix for the Wild Card. They may actually be under-performing, and might start surprising some teams. They are league average in runs scored, but are surprisingly the top rated pitching staff in the NL with a team ERA of 3.39.
