1 (1)- Little Rock Mockingbirds (86-46)- Probably the biggest surprise of the season. While the Mockingbirds looked to be a solid squad, nobody envisioned a team that had only made the playoffs once in the last five seasons to acsend to the best record in the entire league. Its not just the win-loss record either. Little Rock is statistically the best team in the NL. They lead the NL in runs scored, have also allowed the fewest runs and have committed the fewest errors.
2 (7)- Vancouver Tragedy Twins (84-48)- The Twins continue to be one of the consistent performers in the NL. They will once again win the NL West, for the 8th straight season, and could very well earn a bye as well. Rookie sensation Aneury Saenz has been a catalyst for the offense hitting .316 with 21 home runs and 72 RBI.
3 (2)- Richmond Rebellion (83-49)- Only two seasons removed from the franchise's only title, the Rebellion are right in the mix at the top of the NL once again. And they're doing it with a complete team effort. The Rebellion will likely not have a player on either the Cy Young ballot or the MVP ballot.
4 (3)- Philadelphia Stomp (81-51)- The Stomp are poised and ready to win their 3rd pennant in the last four seasons, and finally get their coveted WS title. Quilvio Lee is well on his way to becoming only the 4th player to win 4 Cy Young Awards. Lee is 14-7 with a 2.05 ERA and leads the AL in ERA, K, and OAV.
5 (5)- Charlotte Dukies (79-53)- After 10 consecutive loosing seasons, and constantly being the AL's cellar, we can finally declare that the Dukies have arrived as a consistent playoff team. The Dukies have made the playoffs for the last three seasons, winning the AL South in twice. The divisional rivalry between the Jazz, who have traditionally been the power in the division, gets more and more heated each season and these two teams have been battling for supremacy.
6 (10)- Norfolk Whiskey Jacks (77-55)- For the last 7 or 8 seasons, the Jacks have been one of the best regular season teams in the league. They just haven't been able to get over the hump. After a rocky start this season, the Jacks have playing very well, and look likely to get into the playoffs for the eighth straight season. Success aside, this season has been a bit different. The Jacks have traditionally had players dotting the Cy Young and MVP ballots. Not the case this season. Rich Whitehill though, has been the best hitting back stop in the AL though. He is hitting .305 with 27 home runs and 103 RBI.
7 (8)- New Orleans Jazz (77-55)- The Jazz are locked in a very close race with the Dukies for the division, and, more importantly, the #2 seed in the AL. It should go down to the final days of the season. Bernie Pineda is having an MVP caliber season, hitting .295 with 25 home runs and 82 RBI and 37 stolen bases.
8 (17)- Monterrey Gringos (73-59)- After 12 straight losing seasons, the Gringos seem to be back on track. Their ascension has made the NL South a very tough division. While it will be tough for Gringos to pass both the Jazz and Dukies to win the division, they are very much in the mix for the Wild Card, currently only one game back. Dustan Bailey (.293 AVG, 38 HR, 103 RBI) is pretty close to a lock to win AL Rookie of the Year.
9 (12)- San Diego Wiley Coyotes (73-59)- The squad boasting the front runner for the Cy Young and MVP should be in the playoffs and the Coyotes currently sit 2 games ahead of Atlanta for the NL's final WC spot. Assuming they get in, Mr. 'All Universe' and 'about to become only the 2nd player to win 6 Cy Young Awards' Pepe Sosa is capable of single-handedly capable of pitching this squad into the WS. Sosa is leading the NL in most pitching categories and is 20-5 with a 1.52 ERA. If his numbers stay the same, Pepe will set another SP record, as his 1.52 ERA would be the new lowest single season ERA record.
10 (14)- St. Louis Redbirds (71-61)- After a six season playoff drought, one of SP's crown jewel franchises looks to be back into the postseason with a likely AL North crown. They'll have to continue to fend off Detroit, of course, but if they get in, this team is the AL's dark horse. A trio of All Star starting pitchers and a lineup with a number of up and coming young players make this team a very tough opponent.
